Christoper Frankiln is running for re-election as mayor of Helena-West Helena with a clear mission:

to restore financial stability, public safety and way of life.

"Helena-West Helena has always been a place of resilience."

Helena was incorporated in 1833 and named for Helena Phillips, the daughter of early settler Sylvanus Phillips. Its location along the Mississippi River helped it prosper as an important river port and center of agriculture and commerce. West Helena emerged as a railroad and industrial community and was incorporated in 1917.

The two cities have a long history of working toward unity. Their school systems consolidated in 1946, and Helena and West Helena officially became one city on January 1, 2006.

Our community has also made an extraordinary contribution to American music. In 1941, Helena radio station KFFA began broadcasting King Biscuit Time, a groundbreaking program that helped spread the Delta blues and launch the careers of influential musicians. Today, that legacy is preserved through the Delta Cultural Center and celebrated as an important part of our identity.

Our history proves that Helena-West Helena can overcome difficult times. Rebuilding will require responsible financial leadership, dependable city services, safer and stronger neighborhoods, economic opportunity, and renewed pride in our community. By honoring our past and working together, we can write a new chapter.
